Genetic Variability for Morphological Traits in F3:4 Brassica Populations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Genetic variability is an indicator for a plant breeder to proceed further. Six F3:4 derived inter-specific Brassica populations along with three checks were evaluated for genetic variability for agronomic characters at NWFP Agricultural University, during 20052006. Highly significant (P < 0.05) genetic variations were recorded for plant height. Maximum number of pods main receme (94) was observed for population 19-2-2. The population 15-20-1 produced maximum primary branches (15). Genetic variance for most of the traits was generally 3 to 15 times greater than the environmental variance indicating significant genetic control for most of traits. Heritability estimates were high (> 0.70) for days to flowering, number of primary branches and pod length, while low to medium (0.50-0.70) for pods raceme. Populations 19-83-5, 19-2-2, 2-22-1 and 12-16-1 had outstanding performance for most of the traits.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity among Wild Populations of Achillea bieberstenii Afan. Using Agro-morphological and Germination Traits
There is substantial diversity in Achillea biebersteinii plants in Iran. It has considerable different biological activities including antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, insecticidal, herbicidal and wound healing. Research improvement for medicinal plants depends on the available genetic diversity. The assessment of genetic variability could increase the information for breeding programs. ...

Rapid exploratory field survey, to identify indigenous chicken ecotypes was conducted in north Gondar zone of Ethiopia. Chicken ecotypes including Necked neck, Gasgie and Gugut from Quara, Alefa and Tache Armacheho districts were identified, respectively. Morphological variations among the three study populations and nine measurable traits were evaluated. General linear model, canonical discrim...
متن کاملTowards conservation and breeding of Ajowan (Trachyspermum ammi) by assessing ISSR, morphological traits and germination variability
Ajowan is one of the most important members of medicinal plants of the Apiaceae, consumed by humans. The aim of this study was to explore genetic variability of 20 ajowan populations by ISSR fingerprinting and evaluation of traits at germination. Out of the 30 ISSR primers, ten generated reproducible and polymorphic bands. A total of 93 bands were detected out of which 65 were polymorphic. High...
متن کاملMolecular and morphological assessment of genetic variability induced by gamma radiation in canola
Mutation induction is considered as an effective way to enrich plant genetic variation, particularly for traits with a very low level of genetic variation. This research was conducted to assess genetic variation induced by gamma radiation in M2 and M3 mutant lines of canola (Brassica napus L.) by SSR and morphological characteristics and to identify useful mutants in terms of agronomic traits. ...
متن کاملMating system of Brassica napus and its relationship with morphological and ecological parameters in northwestern Spain.
Mating systems play a central role in determining population genetic structure and the methods to be used to develop new cultivars and preserve the variability of a crop. A Brassica napus crop called nabicol is grown in northwestern Spain. Knowledge on its mating system is needed in order to manage the germplasm correctly and design breeding strategies. The aims of this work were to study the m...
